Understanding Hazardous Waste Exports for Disposal in Europe: A Contribution to Sustainable Development
نویسندگان
چکیده
The concept of sustainable development was introduced in Europe by the Treaty Amsterdam (1997) and extended to waste management Waste Framework Directive. In order achieve development, hazardous (HW) must be managed safely accordance with regulations. This also applies worldwide HW transport, especially when is shipped for disposal. United Nations, through Basel Convention, aims prevent export from developed countries developing Europe, shipments are regulated Regulation (EC) No. 1013/2006 European Parliament Council 14 June 2006 on waste. Additionally, all two principles contained Directive: proximity self-sufficiency. Using data 2014 network analysis methodology, this paper fills gaps scientific literature looking at how travel disposal regulations affect these GDP per capita influences shipment results show that a high play an important role (having highest in-degree) absence landfill taxes does not influence Therefore, EU act self-sufficiency principles.

Hazardous Waste Disposal: A Waste-Fuel Blending Approach
The disposal of hazardous wastes creates major economic and environmental problems for both developed and developing nations. One productive use of hazardous wastes is to blend them into fuel, which mitigates damage to the environment by recycling waste into fuel and reducing fossil-fuel consumption. Operations personnel face a daunting task of efficiently blending hazardous waste into fuel, wh...
متن کاملHazardous Waste Disposal by Thermal Oxidation
Ideally, the flue gas resulting from high-temperature oxidation of hydrocarbons (HC) contains CO 2 , H 2 O, N 2 , O 2 and some acceptable levels of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and oxides of sulfur (SOx). In reality, the flue gas from a combustion process contains CO 2 , H 2 O, N 2 , O 2 and some concentration of carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbons (UHC), NOx and SOx .

A significant technological challenge is the search for appropriate disposal of hazardous waste, It is evident that technologies that are simple, practical and economical for use should be developed, and they should both safeguard public health and reduce environmental pollution. Temporal disposal on the ground surface is a common approach in many European countries, a technique that could cont...
متن کاملUK waste minimisation clubs: a contribution to sustainable waste management
The UK waste strategy is based upon the central concept of the hierarchy of preferable options for the treatment and disposal of waste. Minimisation is placed at the top of the hierarchy and the Government seeks to encourage its uptake by industry and commerce as well as householders. It has been accepted that previous waste management policy and practice have not delivered the hoped for moveme...
متن کاملAvoiding land disposal of hazardous waste. Some case studies.
In response to a growing societal mandate, land disposal of hazardous wastes is gradually being replaced by treatment technologies. This shift to “alternative technologies” is the result of the impacts of past land disposd practices on other environmental media (groundwater, surface water, and air). A prime motivation for pdopting alternatives to land disposal is to eliminate these cross-media ...
